Somatic bodywork is working with the body on a deeper energetic level to regulate the nervous system which in return relieves physical pain and mental health. Through touch and breath and coaching we explore the cells, tissues and bodily structures and give them space.
We access physical patterns, tension, gripping, softness and work with those.
We access the places where unexpressed emotion has created tension and work to give these space to be felt and expressed.
We work with the fascia, fluids and connections that exist in the body to help things flow.
We work with energy centres and the energetic field of the body.
Together, we open up space in the body and gives a pathway to any sound, movement and energy that is ready to move.

We start the session with a consultation to discuss your needs and how best for me to serve you. We talk all areas - physical, mental, emotional - everything is connected.
The session starts with cleansing & grounding into the body to open the space moving into a body scan and deep breath to areas of sensation / energy and working those specific areas with somatic techniques following the pattern of sensations and energy movement.
Somatic techniques include breath techniques, meditations, rocking, bilateral stimulation, somatic movement, emotional release therapy, soft tissue release and manipulation. Additionally, we may use other western and eastern methods such as therapeutic massage, lymphatic drainage, acupressure, lomi lomi massage, cupping therapy & Reiki energy healing.
We finish with an aftercare discussion & ways for you to manage at home if applicable. The session lasts for 60 or 90 minutes and can be fully clothed if you would prefer.
Many people feel very calm and centred after a session, some feel clearer about things that have been confusing for them.
Some feel tingly, energised, alive.
Some feel strong / powerful / inspired.
Some feel like they have been meditating (which in a way they have).
If you’ve had a massage, your therapist probably worked with those trigger spots to soothe any aches & pains. BUT most exploration of your inner state stops there. If the massage brings up feelings or memories, these may be managed skillfully, but the focus is on releasing tissues.
However, bodywork dives in deeper. It can bring up a lot. Our body stores unhealed experiences for a safer time, and then nonverbally brings them up for healing—as sensations, symptoms, feelings, and more. So what if those were the focus? That’s somatic bodywork.
